Alean Haider's fundraising visit to Bay Area launches fundraising drive for AWP

Alean Haider, WBW director and a member of the Afghan Women's Peace Circle visited the Bay Area with a friend January 4-January 10. Together the two young women, who are students at Montclair State University, entertained friends, cooked delicious Afghan food, travelled to San Francisco, and inspired generous support from Sonoma County women.

Alean Haider's visit to launch fund drive for Afghan Women's Development Program

AFGHAN WOMEN'S DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, SPRING 2006

In collaboration with the Sonoma County Women's Council, WBW will be hosting Alean Haider, our correspondent from the Women's Peace Circle in Kabul, for five days in January, 2006. She will be accompanied by another student from Montclair State University in New Jersey where both are studying thanks to a full tuition scholarship from the Initiative to Educate Afghan Women founded by Paula Nirschel.

The young women will be hosted by Asma Eschen of San Rafael and Stephanie Hiller of Occidental.

A fundraising event featuring the two women will be held January 9 from 5:30-7:30 at a private home in Sonoma County. If you would like to attend this event, please contact Mervis Reissig.

Alean, who is a member of the Guiding Circle of WBW, offered to come to help us in our fund raising efforts to support our Afghan Women's Project.
