I Pray to YouBy Nadia Tarzai
I pray to you, I pray to whom? I pray to all and everyone who can pray too, I pray and wish for clear skies full of stars and no more wars, I pray and wish for no more fury, no more rage, for more healing and praise,
Should I pick up a sword, a knife, a gun, the rock by the side of the road and start thrusting, stabbing, firing and throwing for I have rage, for I have fear, for I disagree? Should I? Should I, so I could protect my children in case something came along, in case the beasts were on the loose, in case our resources are gone? Should I attack the ones across the way, the ones in my way? Should I attack so I could feel well again, feel secure once more?
I think I shan't, I will sit with my children and look into their eyes and see, and see pure love and I will mirror back to them that love they give me that love they are and then I will spread that love like peanut butter on my toast all over and all around me, all around us. And I will spread the word that there is a heart shape garden of dancing daffodils planted for peace on the Hill of Hope at the top of Dollar drive in San Rafael California. And I will spread the word that we are love and compassion not naïve and impractical but we are love and compassion, life and passion, imperfect but amazing beings. I will spread the word that no matter who we are, what faiths we live in, what country we sleep in that we are all the same, that we can all breathe peace. And I will remember and remind that despite our way of doing business in this world there is hope for humanity to be humane and have compassion. That despite this seemingly impossible and irrational thinking there are possibilities of creating new smarter innovative ways for our humanity to evolve in peace and democracy. And we should. When the lords of the world will have studied and understood the missing link in their trade of politics, when they will have experienced all of it, the open heart, the true connection to themselves and others and when they will have a true understanding of their own fears and weaknesses, then we will be able to built a world that has a chance to survive in harmony. A world where conflicts could be resolved in chess games rather than flesh, blood and spirit carnages. When education of our civil societies will become a priority for our leaders and democracy taught in all classrooms then perhaps will we see the roots of peace spread throughout the land and the seeds of hope turn into blossoms of love. Then I will know that we have a chance, that the children of our future will have a chance to be part of an amazing time in our Humanity's History when our humanity will have reached a level of consciousness and maturity that they will proud of and so will we. My reflections are inspired by amazing people and organizations that are very different yet so similar because of their common wish for our humanity to survive and heal, our common vision of a world that ceased to point the finger and moved on to better ways in sharing this little planet, its resources and nature. Thank you for your inspiration and leadership to Heidi Kuhn founder of RootsofPeace.org, MovOn.org , BreathingPeace.org and many other individuals from all over the world.
