A new call for Circle of the Morning Star
by Rev. Betsy Stang
Dear Sisters:
In November 1993, during The Cry of
the Earth: The Prophecies of the First Nations, I hosted a
luncheon at the UN for all the women delegates. Amazing
women of all ages, all races, all religions. While the men
had done most of the presentations, the women had done all
the organizing, logistics and writing. At the table sat my
Hopi Grandmother Carolyn who was on dialysis, yet traveling
tirelessly on behalf of her people. We all leaned forward to
hear this tiny, frail old lady speak. We all were pushed
back by the intensity and immensity of her voice. "This is
the beginning. It is a time for the women to come forward
from all the traditions and create new circles, new
gatherings. We will need to do so to save the Earth.
"
After the meeting, she pulled me
aside and made me promise that when the time had come and it
was a time of great difficulty, I would keep that promise.
grandmother crossed over several years ago but she has come
to me in many ways. Reminding me of my promise.
It is obvious that the time is now.
Now is the tenth anniversary of The Cry of the Earth. As I
write, the sun is sending us huge showers of electromagnetic
energy, on the New Moon, we have an eclipse and a Star of
David forming in the sky. The world is full of pain and war,
and the Earth's children are full of fear.
We are the women, we are the
peacemakers. The Haudensonee say that only women can give
birth so only women can declare war. Yet these are wars of
men and our sons are coming home in body bags without our
consent.
The solar winds flare and we are
tossed about. Will we step forward? We are sisters, we are
the mothers, the grandmothers of the world and we have been
doing our work quietly in our communities, our farms, our
offices.
I am writing to ask you to come
together with me in joining The Circle of the Morning Star.
The name, which has been used in many esoteric circles over
the ages symbolizes the return of the light after the
darkness.
We are in darkness now, we must
become the light.
The aims of the Circle of the
Morning Star is to assemble a worldwide circle of women who
are willing to dedicate themselves through prayer and
ceremony, either individually or in groups to creating a
world of peace, of sustainability, of justice where we are
not judged by our economics, our religions, our races or
country of origin.
We agree to utilize those spiritual
practices that are most dear to us, and not judge as less
worthy the spiritual practices of others. When we come
together as groups, we will share only that which we can
freely share and will respect all paths equally.
We agree to reach out to other women
of spirit and light and invite them to join our
circles.
We agree to visualize and work with
the fundamental symbols of our nations and our faiths to
free them from the bondage of the usurpation of those who
work for death and greed.
We agree to represent ourselves as
ambassadors of transformation and reconciliation and
understanding to all.
We believe we can be the change we
want to see.
We agree to write and share our most
important visions and studies with each other through
meetings and/or the Internet. We will honor each other's
privacy and make the space for the voice of our souls to be
heard.
We will invite each other to our
gatherings. We will encourage sharing creative and spiritual
endeavours.
It is hoped that in 4 years, we all
meet at the UN as Women of the Earth, representing and
articulating new paradigms for the world's policy makers. We
pledge ourselves for the children and those yet unborn. For
those whose voices are not heard. For our Mother the Earth
and all our relations.
Because of your work, your light,
and your commitment, you have been invited to join the
Circle of the Morning Star, to work with your sisters in
birthing a new time.I ask you to reach out to the best women
you know and ask them to join the circle, and so it will
grow. Those of you who wish to start your own circles,
either in person or in cyber space, you are invited to do
so. We have started a web site which will post links and
activities as time goes on.
There are no headquarters. Ther are
lines of communication, through the internet and through
organizations such as Gather the Women, Women of Vision, The
Millionth Circle, the United Religions InitiativeWomen's
Spirituality Cooperation Circle and others whp will weave
the future.
Together we pleadge to support
September 21, The UN International Day of Peace as an
international Day of Non Violence and creating a Culture of
Peace.
We pledge to take back our rightful
place as leaders and shapers of the community. We will take
back the esoteric symbols of our counties, our faiths, our
heritages, so they can no longer be used for hate, division
and greed. We will support each other's projects in whatever
is appropriate.
When the morning star rises, we will
stop the busyness of our lives and pray for a healed Mother
Earth. We will prevail. Peace will prevail on Earth for all
the children and all our relations.
Today, we need to stand together,
together we can bring light into the world.
Please take some time and pray on
this request and let me know if you are called to join
us..
May peace prevail on
Earth
Let it begin with me
With love,
Rev Betsy Stang
