In Memorium of 9-11

poems by Judy Grosch

Forgive us, precious ones

Who had to die

Because of human ways.

Please send us guidance

For our future days.

My Enemy

When I look into your eyes,

My enemy,

I can see behind the hate

Your pain

When you encounter me.

Your eyes speak of love

lost years ago,

Your mouth of words

You no longer know.

Beneath your skin lies shame

Cringing lest I might look through

And see the anguished child

Who hides weeping inside of you.

Today

My heart jumps with joy and gratitude

For every person whom I see

Alive and well today.

Oh yes, I have taken you and you for granted

Perhaps even shook my head,

My fist at you.

But I have learnt my lesson

Painfully today

When hatred struck those peopled towers.

The world stood still,

Watched in dismay.

I am touched by life

Rejoicing in your eyes today.

And weep and grieve with those

Whose loved ones passed away.

Soul-Searching

What have you and I done

To make this tragedy

Happen today?

Have our so-called

Private thoughts of hate,

Disdain, revenge, despair

Travelled across the world

On those famous butterfly wings

Gathering momentum

Until they reached the pitch

Of full blown drama?

Forgive us, precious ones

Who had to die

Because of human ways.

Please send us guidance

For our future days.
