Poems

Janine Canan

Lotus Woman

Lotus Woman,

with Your smile

of all suffusing light,

You stand

on the mirroring lake,

Your arm outstretched

ever beckoning.

In the midst of the desert

You alone,

Golden Heart,

remain the reason

for our journey here.

Invocation

Adaptation of Indian Prayer

May You,

fair as the moon,

the snow and the white jasmine,

May You,

in a white dress on a white lotus

with a vina in your lap,

May You,

Goddess Sarasvati,

adored by all the happy gods,

May You,

most Beautiful One,

shine Your pure light inside me.

Startling Light

Heavenly Mother Moon,

bigger than ever tonight,

your bright face worried

yet blissfully detached

as You watch us

devouring our world.
